TOM Student Workshop

A huge thank you to the GATE students and their families who worked to get to the students to their Tournament of Minds Student Workshop.  This event was held at Ross Intermediate on Saturday, June 10th.

Students met with 100 others from Year 5 to Year 10, and explored a range of TOM activities.  In small groups, they tackled 20 'scattergories' type brain teasers.  They also had to create either a sciences or arts human sculpture, which represented the strengths of a fictitious school they were establishing.  Finally, teams had to practice their presentation skills, use of the square and dramatic elements, by retelling a nursery rhyme but incorporating in these other dimensions.  Our teams both created some effective retellings of 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', adding in a detective and a little bit of song and dance!  It was a fun event, with lots of skills practiced.
