Welcome back! I had a great morning meeting new students and catching up with past GATE members - wow, haven't some of these kids grown over the summer!
We had a lot of fun, practicing our communication skills and getting to know each other in a game of "Who Am I?"... there were quite a few giggles!
Then we got down to it, with everyone undertaking a learning styles assessment to revisit our learning style preferences and the choices we need to make within our pods to give us all the best shot at learning.
It was good to see the students reflecting on past practice and identifying the things they need to be vigilant about. Some students found their results had shifted and different strengths have come to the fore. This makes sense, as they move between pods and experience different teaching styles, they are exposed to a wider and ever changing array of learning situations. Their flexibility and adaptability is a great sign for their future progress.
