Students met with me today to investigate and reflect on the qualities of a good leader - the students recorded their reflections on the Explain Everything slideshows - they make for interesting dinner time conversation!
Then we moved on to Knee to Knee, a confident communication task requiring students to introduce themselves and clearly respond to a question, listening also to their partner's response. The students recorded their feelings about the exercise before and after and made interesting observations that prompted lively conversation.
Ava
Before: I feel weird because I am very nervous in front of a group and go all shy.
After: I felt really good but it did feel weird like I said. But, it was nice to know more about others.
Aidan
Before: I feel odd because I don't like introducing myself.
After: I started to feel a bit better. I felt a bit less odd.
Greta
Before: I feel confident because I have introduced myself to a lot of family friends.
After: It was easier introducing myself with the girls that it was with the boys.
Prya
Before: I feel confident because I like to have a bully free environment and having friends is a perfect way because I can see what people are doing and see if people are being bullied or they are bullying people.
After: It was just the way I planned.
