A Seed of Potential

Reflection

Over the past two days we have shared our "Seed of Potential Presentations" within our GATE groups.  The students have identified their personal passions and strengths and sought links to those same things, back through the generations of their family.  We have heard about relatives who have been famous for their skills, Dick Steere, Apirana Ngata and Pat Halcox.  Heard about incredible dedication - 17 nurses can be found in Olivia Persson's family history!  There have been artists and sportspeople and scholars all of whom have fed into the lives of the students who shared about them

Today the students from the Navigator Centre were asked this question...

After the process how do you feel now about your inherited potential?

Axis:  I feel more proud of my family and what they have achieved.
Caleb:  I feel more proud that I know more about my family - I always felt a bit stink that I didn't really know them but now I know I am connected to them as more than just family (genetics)
Riley:  I feel privileged that I have all these important people in my family and that to know them brings me joy
Jojo:  I feel that I know more about where my smarts came from
Emma:  I feel that I know myself a bit better - I know who I am because I have found out more about my ancestors and what they enjoyed and how it links to me.
Nicolas:  I don't really feel anything actually
Noah:  I feel that I share a lot of stuff with my family.
